About the Speaker:

General George A. Custer

Portrayed by

Steve Alexander

Steve Alexander, known as "the world's foremost Custer living historian", was born in Jackson, Michigan and at an early age, developed a life long interest in George Armstrong Custer. His first person interpretation and portrayal of General George Armstrong Custer has garnered him applause and approval across the United States and Canada. He has been seen in over 10 films and numerous reenactments. Arts & Entertainment's Biography of Custer and Bill Kurtis New Explorers, "Betrayal at Little Bighorn", received top awards for outstanding documentaries. Steve has also been named the official General Custer for New Rumley, Ohio, the General's birthplace, and has portrayed the Boy General in Monroe, Michigan, the General's adopted home over a period of ten years. Steve now resides in Monroe, with his wife, in the original Bacon-Custer home where the General's wife, "Libbie" Bacon Custer, was born and the couple lived between military postings.

Besides numerous productions for A&E and the History Channel, Steve is recognized for his outstanding portrayal of General George A. Custer by the Michigan and Ohio Senates and the United States Congress. His travels have taken him from West Point to the Little Big Horn where each year he reenacts "The Last Stand" on the original battlefield..
