"Noble Attire on the Plains"

A chronological overview of Plains Indian clothing and accouterments. Cathy Smith, master quill worker and craftsman, with 150 slides will breakdown the evolution of clothing styles on the plains. All clothing and its decoration had a spiritual as well as functional origin. This changed with the coming of White men's trade items: cloth, beads, metal. With the immense buffalo hide trade, Plains culture changed as well. Cathy will mark the changes of pony beads to seed beads, soft sole moccasins to hard sole, bottom tab leggings to flap leggings, and other sign posts important to authentic historical reenactment.
